Ashton Allen is a versatile composer, percussionist, and educator with a lifelong passion for music. He began his musical journey at the age of eight, learning piano and discovering the emotional depth music could convey. By high school, Ashton had devoted himself to percussion and composition, laying the groundwork for a dynamic career in the arts.
Ashton studied percussion performance at the University of Utah, honing his craft under the guidance of esteemed mentors including Dr. Mike Sammons, Doug Wolf, Danny Soulier, Keith Carrick, Kelly Wallis, Dr. Robert Baldwin, Scott Hagen, among others. During this time, he also performed with prominent ensembles such as the Utah Philharmonic, Utah Wind Symphony, Salt Lake Symphony, and spent six years as a member of the University of Utah Drumline(the last of which he spent as Drumline Captain.)
With nearly a decade of experience as an educator, Ashton has inspired countless students through his dedication to teaching and mentorship. In addition to his work in education, he has self-released an album and multiple singles available on all streaming platforms, showcasing his talents as a composer and performer. His work, "Hyperventilate," - an arrangement of Frost*'s music of the same name - was premiered by the University of Utah Percussion Ensemble. While also at the University he wrote solo works that he performed and even won best orchestral snare composition at the Utah Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society. He writes for the competitive marching arts where groups he has written for have consistently placed top 3 with state champion ensembles and a 1st place WGI regional placement.
His current work includes directing a high-school percussion program, teaching private lessons, and composing for both competitive and concert percussion ensembles. He also is working on increasing an ever expanding catalogue of cues for screen and sync libraries. But don't worry, there is room for your project too.
